About this NYT Spelling Bee solver

The New York Times Spelling Bee gives you seven letters arranged in a honeycomb. Every answer must be at least four letters long, may reuse letters as often as you like, and must include the centre letter. This free solver checks a large English word list against your seven letters and lists every possible answer, grouped by length, with pangrams — words using all seven letters — highlighted.

How is the score calculated?

Four-letter words are worth 1 point. Longer words score one point per letter. A pangram earns an extra 7 points on top of its length.

What is a pangram?

A pangram uses all seven letters at least once. Every Spelling Bee puzzle has at least one, and they're the biggest single scoring opportunity of the day.

Why is a word missing?

The NYT uses its own curated dictionary and excludes proper nouns, hyphenated words and obscure entries. Our list is close but not identical, so a handful of answers may differ.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in your browser — no account, no download, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
