The New York Times Strands puzzle asks you to find hidden words inside a 6×8 grid of letters. Words can snake in any direction — up, down, left, right, and diagonally — and every puzzle contains one special theme word called the spangram. Our answer list uses the official daily theme words and spangram, rather than unrelated dictionary matches. Select an answer to highlight its path on today's board.
How do I use the solver?
Today's 48 Strands letters load into the grid automatically — you can edit any tile if needed. Press Show today's words to see only the official theme words and spangram. With Hint mode on, each answer starts with two visible letters. If you edit or clear the board, reload today's puzzle before showing its official answers.
What is a spangram?
A spangram is the puzzle's hidden theme word that stretches from one side of the board to the other. We label the official spangram so you can spot it instantly, or filter the results to show only that answer.
Is it free and private?
Yes. Fetching today's official puzzle requires an internet connection. After it loads, answer reveals and board highlighting happen in your browser; edited grid letters are not uploaded.
Can I get just a hint, not the answer?
Absolutely. Keep Hint mode enabled and each answer shows only its first two letters and dots for the rest. Give me a hint reveals one full answer and highlights its path, starting with the spangram. Each subsequent click reveals another full answer. Clicking an answer reveals it too; switching hint mode off shows them all.
